Together, we exist to level the playing field
Following the transformative FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ co-hosted in Australia, Kama Umoja Inc. was formed as a grassroots association dedicated to serving as a catalyst organisation that works to challenge gender stereotypes, tackle barriers to participation and leverage the potential of football so women and girls from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities can have opportunities to progress and thrive.
“Umoja” means together in Swahili
VISION
Empowering, educating and inspiring women and girls from CALD communities through football.
MISSION
We work to promote, support, and make accessible the world of possibilities to positively impact the lives of all women and girls from the African diaspora and CALD communities through football.
PILLARS OF ACTIVITY
PARTICIPATION
Operate a female focused tournament of the highest quality where the players from CALD communities are treated with professionalism and care to grow their passion for the sport
EMPOWERMENT
Operate Grassroots Coaching Licences available to all participants. Female coaches in the program will be able to attend info sessions with Football Australia national team coaches.
Every match day will hold a Come & Try session for girls from the ages of 8 – 14 to give them a free taste of football.
CULTURAL EDUCATION
Through Focus Groups identify and address barriers to participation. Working with our ambassadors we will hold education sessions with key familial decision makers to address cultural barriers to female participation.
